In Memory of Grandma Dea




Lois Allsop Dea 1933 ~ 2008 Lois Allsop Dea, cherished sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on April 9, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love. Her determination to overcome many health challenges courageously taught us all to never give up and to endure to the end.She was born on January 28, 1933 in Sandy, Utah to loving parents Myrle Allsop and Gladys Bateman Allsop. She married John R. Tingey (divorced). Married Carl Benjamin Dea October 8, 1965. She became his eternal soul mate on April 9, 1976 when they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted mother to her four children. She was proud of each of her 22 grandchildren and she cherished each of her 18 great-grandchildren. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings which included Relief Society President and in the Primary Presidency. She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl; son, Ron (Pat) Tingey and daughters, Jolene (Jeff) Welch, Carrie (Tim) Rasmussen, Shelly (Jeff) Parkin and Carl W. Dea (stepson). Brothers, Delbert (Lola) Allsop, Reed (Marge) Allsop; and sister, Gladys (Spencer) Hind and many loving family members. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, Noe; and granddaughter, Emily Welch. Services will be held on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest 5th Ward, 915 East Peach Blossom Drive (9045 So) Sandy, UT. Friends and family may call Sunday evening, April 13, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State St. Midvale, UT and on Monday morning at the church from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT. The family thanks the staff of the University Hospital NCC Unit for their compassionate care and all friends and neighbors who have supported Lois and her family during our time of need. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Breast Cancer Research or the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
We will miss you grandma!! Love ya!!!
